We are 100% run by unpaid volunteers (including executive staff and board members) across 6 continents. In addition to the thousands of volunteers for specific events through partnership with other organizations over the decades, since 2016 we began developing a model that trains and retains volunteers long-term rather than just per-event, and helps spread our research and community programs globally.
In 2016 we had just 2 regular volunteer staff members. In 2018 we had 10 regular volunteer staff members. In early-to-mid 2019 we had around 30 volunteers. By the end of 2020 we were at 130 volunteers across 6 continents!
